Integration of Satellite Data and Field Observations in Pishin Basin, Balochistan

Abstract

  Pishin Basin, Balochistan remained unexplored due to reasons, such as, poor geological database, remoteness, and lack of infrastructure. However, widespread distribution of thick sedimentary sequences with organic rich intervals, interbedded sand bodies, reefal build ups, intraformational shale, conglomeratic layers, occurrence of mud volcanoes, gas seepages and structurally undisturbed configuration of the surface rocks are fascinating leads. Therefore, un-explored basins like Pishin Basin merit geological / petroleum exploration.
